Sanchit is an early stage startup entrepreneur, Co-Founder of TownScript

“During these years, I have realized that many of my peers and juniors also want to start but they lack basic guidance. If they also knew the basics they would have also dared to start or at least would have given it a try. So, I started writing blog @ startupO2”

I was talking to one of my friends few days back. Eventually we started talking about living our dreams and doing what we really want to do in life. During the discussion, he constantly pointed out that he wanted to work for a social cause but he was scared of getting failed. He was scared of what might going to happen if he failed. I tried to convince him that in fact failure is not he should be scared of. He should be scared of what he is going to think after 40 years that he didn’t even try out what he really wanted to in life.
My perception about failure has completely changed for last one and a half years. The same question used to haunt me a lot when I decided not to join an MNC but decided to work on our startup Townscript.
It’s the same question my father used to ask me when I finally decided to not join the job.
Father: “what’s going to happen if it doesn’t work?”
My reply always used to be “What’s going to happen if it works? :D”.
Finally I was able to convince him. The only thing I have realised after doing my previous startup is that you learn everyday because you fail everyday. Most of the times you are going to fail, when you try out new stuff which no one has taught you. You have to learn and stand up again and try out other ways.
Failure is awesome. When you fail you don’t have any option but to learn and succeed. And when finally you succeed by trying out other ways – that’s the best learning experience of life.
But that’s for sure – this doesn’t happen when you are doing easy stuff. I think I will do easy stuff only when I am scared of getting failed! I think Failure is a part of the process of being successful. Let’s not be scared of that! let’s not think what people are going to think about us if we fail! Let’s not stop ourselves in doing what we really wished to do in life! It’s going to be a great lesson to learn if we fail! 🙂 Few quotes on failures that I really like:
“Failure is greatness waiting to happen” – Robin Sharma”
“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” – Paulo Caelho
“Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill
“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.” ― Theodore Roosevelt
“It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.”- Bill Gates
